The Howclouds guidebook
Everything your files can do, explained simply
Six how-to guides cover cloud storage and backup from start to finish. Jump to the one you need or read them in order.
Guide 1How to Back Up
Set it once
Back up everything without thinking about it
A backup only helps if it actually happens. Howclouds quietly copies the folders you choose to cloud storage in the background, so a dropped phone or a coffee-soaked laptop never means starting from scratch.
- Choose the folders that matter, like Documents, Desktop and your camera roll, and we handle the rest.
- New and changed files are copied automatically while your device is idle and connected.
- Phone backups can wait for Wi-Fi so they never eat into your mobile data.
- A simple status screen shows what is protected and what is still waiting in line.
- Storage alerts nudge you before space runs low, so backups never stop quietly.
Try it in 3 steps
- Install Howclouds and sign in on the device you want to protect.
- Tick the folders you want backed up.
- Leave it alone. Check the status screen whenever you are curious.
Guide 2How to Sync
One library, every screen
Keep files the same on every device
Start a document on your laptop, read it on your phone on the bus, finish it on your tablet at home. Sync keeps one up-to-date copy everywhere, with no emailing files to yourself.
- Edit a file on one device and see the change on your others as soon as they are online.
- Mark important files as available offline and they sync back when you reconnect.
- If two devices edit the same file, both copies are kept so nothing gets overwritten.
- Pick which folders sync to each device, which is handy for tablets with small storage.
- A small sync badge on every file tells you whether it is up to date.
Try it in 3 steps
- Sign in to Howclouds on each of your devices.
- Choose which folders each device should keep in sync.
- Save a file anywhere and watch it appear everywhere else.
Guide 4How to Organize
Find it in seconds
Folders and search that make files easy to find
A tidy cloud is a calm cloud. Use simple folders, colors and stars to keep things in order, and lean on search for the days when you cannot remember where something went.
- Build nested folders and give them colors so important ones stand out at a glance.
- Star the files you open all the time and find them in one Favorites list.
- Search by file name, file type or date to jump straight to what you need.
- A Recent view shows what you opened or changed lately across all your devices.
- Spot large files and duplicates so you can tidy up before storage fills.
Try it in 3 steps
- Create one folder for each area of life, like Home, Work and School.
- Drag loose files into the right folder and star the favorites.
- Use search whenever you forget where something lives.
Guide 5How to Save Photos
Memories, safely stored
Keep photos and videos safe in storage
Your camera roll holds some of your most precious files, and it is usually the thing that fills a phone first. Howclouds saves your photos and videos to the cloud so you can free up space without saying goodbye to a single memory.
- Turn on photo backup and new pictures and videos upload automatically.
- Originals are stored as you took them, with nothing squeezed or trimmed.
- Browse by date or build albums for trips, birthdays and family moments.
- After a photo is safely saved, clear it from your phone with one tap to make room.
- Share an album with a link so friends and family can look through it.
Try it in 3 steps
- Switch on photo backup in the Howclouds app settings.
- Wait for the upload to finish, ideally on Wi-Fi.
- Tap Free up space to clear the copies already stored in the cloud.
Guide 6How to Restore
Oops, undone
Bring back deleted or older files
Everyone deletes the wrong thing eventually, or saves over the good version. Howclouds keeps deleted files and earlier versions within reach, so most mistakes are only a few taps from fixed.
- Deleted files land in a Recently Deleted area first, so you can pull them back out.
- Version history keeps earlier copies of a file, and you can preview before you restore.
- Restore a single file, or a whole folder, in one go.
- Bring a file back to its original spot, or save it as a new copy next to the current one.
- Storage alerts tell you when space is tight so important files are not left unprotected.
Try it in 3 steps
- Open Recently Deleted, or open a file and choose Version history.
- Preview the copy you want to bring back.
- Tap Restore and check that it is back where you expect.
